Coming soon - Drama School!

We are looking for hosts for Drama School Classes. Have a space in Cobourg that you want to fill with local parents? Reach out and let us know!

Curiosity Collective
CA$25.00

The Curiosity Collective is a welcoming, low-commitment community where caregivers and children connect through art and nature. For just $25, families join as Curiosity Collective members and receive one canvas to use throughout their journey. After you have become a member, you are invited to join our weekly meet-ups. Each weekly meet-up is $15 and you can attend as few or as many as you like - no pressure to attend each one.

Every meet-up is held in a unique natural setting, where families explore a new art medium or technique and add another meaningful layer to their canvas. Each meet-up begins with a short group gather to discuss topics related to child development, read a story, and learn about the art material of the week. Then, each caregiver and child finds their own spot in nature to create together - strengthening bonds, sparking creativity, and building lasting memories.

Open to families with children of all ages, The Curiosity Collective is about connection over perfection.

Members also gain access to our private Facebook group where they can stay connected between sessions.

Meet-ups are currently on Friday mornings at 10:00am. Each session will be at a different location in or around Cobourg, Ontario. The location will be announced on the Monday before each meet-up.

Drama School
CA$300.00

This is a drama school unlike any other!

With a focus on inquiry and exploration, we let PLAY lead the way.

Our unique, child-led approach gives children the chance to take on various roles and wear different “hats” as we put on a show over a 12 week period.

This is not just an acting class, it is a chance to discover the joy that comes from every part of theater!

Individual Workshops
CA$150.00

Bring the joy of play-based, child-led exploration to your daycare, school, small business, or home! Every workshop is 2 hours long and includes all materials (and cleanup).

Messy Magic - sensory play, hands on art, and unbridled creativity lead the way as we embrace the benefits of big play, big messes, and big learning! For ages 6 month to 6 years.

Community Canvas - one huge canvas + one community = unlimited creativity! Your group will work together to create a work of art that is unique to them. We will explore the power of art to express our thoughts and emotions and in the end, your group will have a masterpiece filled with deep meaning.

Powerful Puppets - the perfect introduction to the power of storytelling! Children will create their own unique puppets and then work together to create their own puppet theater. The children then take turns directing stories for the puppets to act out, creating their very own pieces of theater.

About Megan

Hi! I am Megan Graham and Around the Birch Tree is my passion project.

I’ve been working with children for over 15 years, starting way back with my very first job at a community daycare. Since then, I’ve had the joy of working in many different spaces with kids and families - but it was my most recent job at a children’s art studio in Toronto that really lit a spark. Watching kids dive into paint, clay, and endless creativity reminded me how powerful play is and how much learning, confidence, and connection happen when kids are simply allowed to explore.

That inspiration led me back to school in my 30’s to study Child and Youth Care, so I could combine hands-on experience with deeper knowledge about child development and family support.

I guess you could say working with kids is in my DNA. My earliest inspiration was my dad, who ran what I thought was the coolest summer day camp in Toronto when I was a kid. Being surrounded by that kind of joyful, play-filled energy set me on the path I’m still walking today.

Along the way, I’ve also earned a certificate in Animal Care, which adds another layer to the ways I think about learning, connection, and the role of nature and animals in children’s lives.

Now, I’ve just landed in Cobourg with my partner and our three kids, and I’m so excited to bring my love of play-based learning to this community. My goal is simple: to create spaces where families can slow down, connect, and celebrate the magic of play together.
